‘In On Goal’ is a perfect example of the kind of branded online content we produce at WSM. We worked with our long-term client Yahoo on a weekly football show hosted by Dion Dublin and Colin Murray, with legendary guests every week joining the guys to chat through their predictions for the weekend ahead. The show was based in a studio in central London, with a live feel using multi-camera television techniques applied to content that was going to be watched by an online audience, mainly on mobile devices. Average viewing figures for each show were over 1 million streams, with the episode that featured Harry Redknapp getting an audience of 1.6 million! We covered the whole Premier League fixture list in 20 mins, including featured games and a bit of interview content with the guest.

The brief

Yahoo’s brief was to create online content to be used on Yahoo Sport, focused around the English Premier League. The show would run weekly and focus on predictions for the weekend ahead, rather than looking backwards and analysing what had happened the previous weekend. Our primary aim was to create entertaining content that would have credibility with a football audience. A show that didn’t take itself too seriously but confidently knew what it was talking about when it came to football. We knew Dion and Colin already and knew that putting them together would work, especially when joined by quality names from top flight football. The show was recorded on a Thursday and released on the Friday morning to keep it fresh and relevant.
